Year 5
In September the children from Poplar and Rowan classes attended Mass at church followed by a lovely Retreat day at the parish centre led by Mrs Sullivan.
During the day the children had opportunities to learn a song, reflect on a passage of scripture, pray and to create special things like a treasure box and a Rosary.
The day ended with a beautiful liturgy led by the children. They set up the prayer space, performed a song with signing and said special prayers.
Year 6
As Year Six prepares for our epic journey across time and space in our new English unit 'Planetarium', Willow Class have been using echo reading to practise our expression and fluency of words.
Watch this space for our non-chronological reports all about a planet created by us ...
Year 6 celebrated St Francis day on Friday 4th October. St Francis is very special as he has been chosen to represent the Trust; we are all a part of St Francis of Assisi Catholic Academy Trust. St Francis’ love of nature and care for the world has been promoted by Pope Francis; in the current state of ‘Climate Change’, as ‘Stewards of the Earth’ we all have a responsibility to look after God’s creation. The children have enhanced their learning further in Religious Education lesson where we focused on Pope Francis’ encyclical ‘Laudato Si’.
