Pupil Absence
At St Joseph’s, we have high expectations of pupil attendance. When pupils are absent from school, not only do they miss vital learning experiences, but it also affects their social and emotional development. Therefore, we strongly recommend that planned term-time absences are kept to a minimum and are for exceptional circumstances only.
In order to request a planned absence for your child, please complete the leave of absence request form and send it to the school office. The decision to approve/deny the request will be made on an individual basis, at the discretion of the Headteacher. Unless there are exceptional circumstances, if the pupil’s current attendance is 92% or less (or the period of absence will result in their attendance dropping to 92% or lower), requests will be denied.
